Healthy Weight Loss, Easy as 1-2-3
Three tried and true steps to get off the "loss/gain" roller coaster.
- Start eating more whole foods. Whole foods were once alive. They are plants, animals, nuts, seeds, and eggs, etc. If it didn't come from the ground or something that made noise when you poked it, it's not whole food. *Don't think about that for too long.
- Balance your plate. Balance means that half of a plate (or styrofoam container) is vegetables that don't starch. A quarter of the plate can be lean or an animal protein. The final quarter of the plate is starchy veggies like sweet potato or rice. NOT Haribo gummy bears and ABSOLUTELY NOT the sugar-free kind.
- Take things one step at a time and allow yourself to do it imperfectly. You cannot trust me enough on this one. I have too many success stories built on the foundation of imperfect action in edible amounts (pun) hee hee.
- Your body heals a little at a time; it grows slowly, and it ages slowly. It's not realistic to believe that every part of you adapts incrementally, but your decision-making power is Amazon Prime with overnight delivery.
Everyone that I personally coach masters these three steps. And- I am no different- when I decided to get lean again for a competition, I started trading my fancy Starbucks drinks and egg bites for a cold brew with stevia and a dab of half and half. One week of that change saved me 4200 calories, which equals 1.3lbs of body fat.
When we start working together, I suggest you eat one balanced whole-food meal daily. Once you see that you can do that and it's easy, you'll ask me for something harder to do-and now you're asking me if you can make changes that you used to dread:)
Have fun.
