"Health is not about your weight."
" Health is not about your weight."
The body positivity movement hijacked this notion in the early 2020s. So I need to tell you an unavoidable truth. You may dislike me for it (but that's okay, because I don't make nature's laws, I'm just sharing them).
Do not fall for the pandering falsehood of "I can be healthy at any weight."
Believing the advertisements that say you should no longer feel the need to do healthy things and take care of yourself will not work out well for you; however, it does line the pockets of many marketers and brands, provided you shop at the brands pushing that message.
Replace that message with:
There is never a good reason not to take care of yourself.
That includes how you speak to yourself, regardless of the number on the scale. Which, is why I believe good people started the body positivity movement before marketers and brands hijacked and destroyed it's altruistic core in the search for money.
So, perhaps we say instead:
There is never a good reason not to take care of yourself, AND you can be kind to yourself no matter where you are on your journey.
I don't know many successful people who got that way by shaming and beating themselves up. But I have watched more than a few people put the myth of the phoenix to shame with their recommitment to life. Kindness to themselves gave them energy, that led to change, and eventually kindness to others.
We improve health and weight by focusing on health. When we have health on the inside, the outside is taken care of.
Have fun.
